Privacy Policy

AstroFate (“we”, “us”) provides Vedic astrology readings through our website and our Android application. This policy explains what we collect, why, who processes it, how long we keep it and how you can delete it. The same policy governs the website and the app.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

• Name
• Email address and/or mobile phone number — either one can be used to create an account
• Password, stored only as a salted one-way bcrypt hash, never in readable form
• Birth details: date, time and place of birth (required to calculate a Kundli)
• Your questions to the AI astrologer and your messages during a consultation
• Partner birth details, when you request a compatibility (match) report
• Address, only if you choose to provide it for a paid service

Information collected automatically

• Device type and model, operating-system version, app version and language
• Approximate country or region, derived from your IP address or device time zone, used to show the correct currency — we do not collect precise or GPS location
• Crash reports and diagnostic logs
• Anonymous usage events (for example: screen opened, report generated)
• Push-notification token, if you allow notifications

Payment information

Paid plans are processed by our payment providers. We store only the plan purchased, the amount, the currency, the provider and the transaction status. We never receive or store your card number, CVV, net-banking password or UPI PIN.

We do not collect your contacts, photos, files, SMS messages, call logs, calendar, microphone, camera or precise location. The Android app requests no such permissions.

2. How we use your information

Only to: calculate your Kundli and generate your reports; answer your questions; deliver the consultation you booked and contact you about it; process payments and send receipts, reports and confirmations; send optional push notifications you can switch off at any time; provide customer support; keep the service secure and fix crashes; and comply with legal, accounting and tax obligations.

We do not sell your personal data, we do not run advertising in the app, and we never use your birth details, reports or questions for advertising.

3. Who processes your data

• Cashfree Payments (India) and PayPal (international) — payment processing
• OpenAI — generating astrology interpretations from your chart data and question text
• Zoho Mail — sending transactional email from info@theastrofate.com
• Google Firebase (Cloud Messaging, Crashlytics, Analytics) — push notifications, crash reporting and anonymous usage statistics in the Android app
• Twilio / WhatsApp — only when you choose to continue a consultation over WhatsApp
• Our hosting and database providers — to operate the service

All transfers use HTTPS/TLS. We may also disclose information where required by law, court order or a lawful request from public authorities, or to protect our legal rights.

4. How long we keep it

• Account, birth details, reports and chat history — while your account exists
• Payment records — up to eight years, as required by Indian tax law
• Crash and diagnostic logs — up to 90 days
• Everything else — deleted when you delete your account

5. Deleting your account and data

You can delete your account yourself, at any time, without contacting us:

• Web: app.theastrofate.com/account/delete
• In the app: menu → Privacy → “Delete my account and data”

Confirming immediately and permanently deletes your profile, birth details, Kundli and match reports, AI chat history, consultation records, notification tokens and saved sessions. Payment records are retained in anonymised form (identity removed) only for the statutory period in section 4. We email you a confirmation receipt once the deletion is complete. You can also write to info@theastrofate.com and we will complete it within 7 days.

6. Your rights

You may ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, restrict its use, or withdraw your consent — write to info@theastrofate.com. We respond within 30 days.

7. Children

AstroFate is not directed at children. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or make a payment. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18; if we learn that we have, we delete it promptly.

8. Security

All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS/TLS. Passwords are stored only as salted bcrypt hashes. Access to production data is restricted to the account owner. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable commercial measures to protect your information.

9. Cookies and local storage

Our website uses cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your language and currency, and to measure traffic. You can clear or block them in your browser; some features will stop working. The app uses local storage for the same purposes and uses no advertising identifiers.

10. International transfers

Our providers may process data outside your country, including in India, the United States and the European Union. Wherever it is processed, this policy continues to apply.

11. Third-party links

Our website and app may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices; please read their policies.

12. Changes to this policy

If we make a material change we will update the date at the top of this page and notify registered users by email. Continuing to use the website or app after a change means you accept the revised policy.
